Is your fire-risk assessment current?

We were recently called in by a golf club whose fire-risk assessment had found them to be inadequately protected in the likelihood of a fire.  It’s worth emphasising that an organisation must have a person allocated to managing the fire assessment and protection of its premises.  That individual will have legal responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to carry out a fire-risk assessment and then review it on an annual basis.

Fire authorities no longer issue fire certificates and those previously in force now have no legal status.

The Government has produced a booklet which provides simple and practical advice to people responsible for fire safety in small and medium businesses. It provides entry level guidance on how to make sure you are meeting the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.  Click here for more information.
