Protecting your roof against lead thefts
The summer's sadly been a time of rising burglary and theft related crimes, both nationally and locally. As well as thefts of possessions, precious metals such as copper and lead have increased.
Many new and historic buildings have encountered thefts of lead from their roofs and this has caused major disruption and serious damage to their premises.
The good news is that there are detection methods to alert property owners to a potential lead theft from their building. Microphonic cables can be laid under the lead. These act as an intrusion detection sensor detecting and alerting owners to any intruders cutting through, climbing on or lifting the lead sheeting. There are even versions which give an audible warning to any intruders on a roof. For more information, contact Andy, Sandy or David on 01483 791 500
