Fire Detection System For Busy Call Centre

The Situation

Our client was a major company operating a number of call centres. They wanted fire detection systems for their premises which would integrate with their existing access contol security and enable a fast but safe evacuation. In particular they wanted to ensure that, if a fire broke out, there was freedom of movement so their people could vacate the premises as quickly as possible.

The Solution

We installed special fire detection technology that ensured existing access control measures did not pose an obstruction in the case of a fire. Both systems were integrated and the fire detection system set to having over-riding control if a fire broke out. We also moved the fire alert method to a voice command one, as research has shown that this (in comparison to sirens) creates less panic in people and a smoother and safer evacuation from a premises.
