CCTV

CCTV systems are used most to deter and detect criminal activities. However, CCTV is now being used in many more applications such as ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) which can operate gates and barriers. CCTV is also being used as an external detection. With the advances of technology your CCTV system can now be viewed from wherever you are in the world.

CCTV explained

Modern CCTV cameras utilise IT network technology to communicate with NVR’s
(Network Video Recorders) and server solutions. This allows for potential cost
savings during the installation phase of a project as we may be able to utilise
your existing local area network. Alternatively, we can install a stand-alone
network for the CCTV system, which could also be used for other security
systems such as access control and video entry.

The range and functionality of cameras that we have at our disposal is vast.
There is a camera solution for most applications and operational requirements,
ranging from entry level 2.0MP (Mega Pixel) resolution cameras up to 64MP.
These cameras are available in various types, such as traditional domes, turret
and bullet cameras together with PTZ (Pan Tilt & Zoom) units which can
incorporate both infra-red & white light illuminations to the more exotic such as
explosion proof and ATEX rated cameras.

One of the main advantages to utilising high definition (HD) is that you can often
reduce the number of cameras required on a system as the HD cameras allow
for a far higher quality digital zoom of the recorded images. HD cameras also
greatly increase the chances of correctly identifying the incident.

Our Systems
The type of systems we design, install and maintain range from a simple 2-3
camera system up to large enterprise, multi-server solutions with 100’s of
cameras and multiple viewing positions.

Our CCTV systems can integrate into other security systems such as access
control, perimeter detection, intruder alarms and security lighting.

Connectivity & Remote Monitoring
With connection to your local area network and the internet, your CCTV images
can be viewed from workstations, web browsers and smart devices from
wherever you are in the world.

Remote monitoring of CCTV systems is a growth area within our industry.
Typically, a CCTV system is designed to integrate with a detection system or use
the video analytics within the camera. When an intrusion is detected, the
system will transmit this to the remote monitoring centre who will take the
appropriate action.

Other uses and applications
We install and maintain CCTV in many different ways, such as, to monitor
patients in hospital treatment areas where the environment would be hostile to
the staff such as X-ray, linear accelerator units and the like. We also have CCTV
systems deployed in pharmaceutical manufacturing areas to help monitor the
quality of the production together with staff behaviour which allows for audit
trails should an investigation be required.

With the advances in thermal imaging technology and the significant reduction in
cost, there are numerous applications where thermal imaging cameras can be
used. For example, long range detection of people and vehicles which can be up
to 100’s of meters. Temperature monitoring of people for high temperature has
really evolved over the pandemic.

We can also use thermal imaging for the monitoring of equipment in
communication & plant rooms for high/dangerous temperatures.
Built in camera analytics are also used regularly in retail applications to monitor
behaviour patterns such as movement which determines key areas where
customers congregate and analyse directions of movement.
Cameras are also being used to regulate the quantity of people entering and
leaving.
